Tarekat Naqsabanidiyah dan Konservasi Alam (Etika Lingkungan Lingkungan Hidup dalam Wawasan Keagamaan)
This research is based on the need for empowering cultural values and traditional wisdom for the sake of natural environment conservation. Tarekat Naqsabandiyah is chosen as the topic due to its existence as a religious institution which is not only rich with values of wisdom, but also still much neglected from the discourse of natural environment conservation. Beside as among the biggest tarekat in the country, this is also an inclusive path proved by its participation in a political party. The place of Jogjakarta is taken into account due to the fact that its member in the branch of Jogjakarta are mostly well educated people, the are the students of college who are familiar with the issue of natural environment conservation. The main problem addressed by this research is how the relation between human being and their natural environment in the teachings of Tarekat Naqsabandiyah, what is the encouragements of this path for natural environment conservation. The legal-normative approach is implemented here as the research deals much with the norms and teachings. Data is collected through interview with key persons, together with documentary research. Field observation is made for some specific activities of the path. The research shows that the people of Tarekat Naqsabandiyah are on the opinion that human being as the “khalifah” of Allah swt. are responsible on the preservation of all God’s creature, and the must in position of the concept of functionalism theory, that all human being, all of the creatures are on the mode of symbiosis of mutualism in global ecosystem. Moreover, still according to them, all of creatures are “live” metaphysically although biologically the are not live. As a result, human being need certain ethics in dealing with all creatures. Therefore, the effort for preserve and build the natural environment is a compulsory to attaint the best human level in this tarekat, i.e., ‘insan kamil’.
