As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in Microsoft Word document file format.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  • If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.

Before Submission

Before submitting make sure that your manuscript is suitable to the Journal of Architectural Research and Design Studies’s Aim and Scope.

 

Preliminary Assessment

Submitted papers that do not meet the aims and scope of the Journal of Architectural Research and Design Studies will be rejected. The quality issues include inappropriate research questions, not sufficiently rigorous and not sufficiently in depth intellectually. In addition, the papers written in language and grammar that do not achieve a scholarly accepted standard are likely to be desk rejected.

 

The Manuscripts

The manuscript should be an original research paper that sufficiently contributes novelty to architecture literature. Authors are requested to submit their papers electronically by using the Journal of Architectural Research and Design Studies online submission procedure. The corresponding author should also provide a statement that the manuscript is not concurrently being under consideration for publication elsewhere. The Editors will ignore submissions that do not follow these procedures.

 

Structure of The Manuscripts

  1. Title. The title must contain the main issue of the paper. The title should be clear and informative, and not more than 12 words.
  2. Author's names and institutions. The author's names should be accompanied by the author's institutions and email addresses, without any academic title. For a joint paper, one of the authors should be notified as to the corresponding author.
  3. Abstract. The abstract of your paper is a critical part of your manuscript. The length of the abstract should less than 150 words, including keywords and article classification.  The key words should be of 3 to 5 words or phrases.
  4. Introduction. This section explains the background to the study, a review on the previous researches in the area, and aims of the manuscripts. It should also show the significance and novelty of the research.
  5. Methods. This section describes the appropriate tools of analysis along with the data and their sources.
  6. Results and Discussion. This section explains the results of the study clearly and concisely. Author(s) should discuss by exploring the state of the art and novelties of the work to the economics literature.
  7. Conclusion. This section concludes and provides policy implications, if any, of the study.
  8. Acknowledgment. Please acknowledge anyone who contributed towards the article who does not meet the criteria for the authorship including anyone who provided professional writing services or materials. If you do not have anyone to acknowledge please write ‘not applicable’ in this section.
  9. References. This section lists only the papers, reference books, or other types of publications referred to in the body of the manuscript. Manuscripts are expectedly involved with primary and updated references.

 

General Writing Format

  1. The manuscript is prepared in an A4 paper, using 10-size, Arial font type.
  2. The manuscript is written in proper English.
  3. The title is written using capital letters only at first word or special name (example: location name), 24 font size, starting from the left margin.
  4. Sub titles are written using capital letters only at first word or special name, 14 font size, starting from the left margin.
  5. Sub of sub titles, if any, are numbered in Arabic and written using and capital letters only at first word or special name. They should be 10 font size, started from the left margin.
  6. Sub of a sub of sub titles, if any, are written using capital letters only at the beginning of each word except for connecting words, all in italics. They should be started from the left margin.
  7. Citation and reference must be written in APA style. The article at least has 15 references. Most of the references (minimum 80% or 12 references) should come from recent 10 years journal articles (not textbooks or proceedings).

 

Citation

Citation in the text body should be written using the family name and years of publication. Example:

a. Hill (2001) suggests that the objective of depreciation is...

b. Inflation targeting would be sufficient (McCain, 1982).

c. The definition of contagion is ... (Wagner, 1976; Rhonda 2009).

d. The Authors are recommended to use Mendeley Reference software.

 

References

The manuscript is expected to involve approximately 15 or more primary and up-to-date references to assert high-quality contributions to knowledge development. Citations and references must strictly follow the APA (American Psychological Association) style. References should include only works that are cited within the text of the manuscript. Consulting the APA style manual (http://www.apastyle.org/pubmanual.html) is strongly recommended for completing manuscript submissions.

How to send the manuscript

An author should first register as Author through the following address: link for a new author.

After all form textbox was filled, the Author clicks on the “Register” button to proceed with the registration. Therefore, the Author is brought to an online author submission interface where Author should click on “New Submission”. The following are five steps in the online submission process:

  1. Step 1 - Starting the Submission: Select article in Journal Section. Checking all boxes in the Submission Checklist. Click save and continue.
  2. Step 2 – Uploading the Submission: Click Choose file on the Upload submission file item and choose the manuscript document file (.doc/.docx) to be submitted (Max file size 1 MB), then click Upload button until the file has been uploaded. Do not upload supplementary files here. Click save and continue.
  3. Step 3 – Entering Submission’s Metadata: In this step, detail all authors metadata should be entered including the marked corresponding author. After that, the manuscript title and abstract must be uploaded by copying the text and paste in the textbox. Click save and continue
  4. Step 4 – Uploading Supplementary Files: Supplementary file should be uploaded consisting of Plagiarism Checker Result (Turnitin), Grammar Checker Result (Grammarly) and other relevant information (if any). Therefore, click on the Choose file button and then click on the Upload button. Click save and continue
  5. Step 5 – Confirming the Submission: The author should final check the uploaded manuscript documents in this step. To submit the manuscript to the Journal of Architectural Research and Design Studies, click the Finish Submission button after the documents are true. The corresponding author or the principal contact will receive an acknowledgement by email and will be able to view the submission’s progress through the editorial process by logging in to the journal web address site. 

 

Final Decision

Taking into account the results of the peer-reviewing process, the decision as to the acceptability of each manuscript for publication will be notified to the author(s) through the website system in the following alternative conclusions:

  1. Accepted without revision, or

  2. Accepted with minor revision, or

  3. Accepted with major revision, or

  4. Rejected.

 

Revision of manuscripts

Manuscripts sent back to the authors after revision should be returned to the editor without delay. The revised manuscript should be uploaded to the Online Submission Interface in the "Upload Author Version" from the Review task window.
