As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 11-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  • If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.

A. General Guidelines

  1. Submissions should be in the field of Civil Engineering and can be in the form of scientific research, scientific reviews, or literature studies, with emphasis placed on specific case studies.
  2. Authors are obligated to uphold ethical academic writing standards and possess a comprehensive understanding of potential benefits and risks associated with the published article.
  3. The author is solely responsible for all matters related to software implementation, citations/references, and copyright.
  4. Authors are prohibited from simultaneously submitting the same paper to multiple journals or other publication platforms.

B. Writing Guidelines

  1. The article must be written using the manuscript template available on the Teknisia website.
  2. The article may be written in English with proficiency and accuracy, adhering to the rules of the language.
  3. The manuscript content:
    • Title. The article title should clearly reflect the addressed issue and avoid ambiguity. Uncommon abbreviations should be avoided. The title should be concise, not exceeding 15 words, and written in sentence case with initial capitalization. Use a font size of 14 pt with a line spacing of 1.15.

    • Author. The author's full name without abbreviations or titles should be bold in a font size of 10 pt with a line spacing of 1 pt. Between the title and the author's name, use a font size of 11 pt and a line spacing of 1 pt (before: 0 pt and after: 6 pt). Identify the corresponding author with an asterisk and reference them with their name and email address. If there are multiple authors, separate their names with commas.

    • Institution of Affiliation. Write the institutional name below the author's name, followed by the city and country name (without address details). Use a font size of 9 pt with a line spacing of 1 pt. Affiliation details should start with the department. Example: Department of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Civil Engineering and Planning, Islamic University of Indonesia, Yogyakarta, Indonesia.

    • Abstract. Present the abstract in grammatically correct English using italics, Times New Roman font size 10 pt, and a line spacing of 1 pt. Limit the abstract to a maximum of 250 words. Write the abstract comprehensively, summarizing the entire content. Divide the abstract into three sections (introduction, methods, and results) within a single paragraph.

    • Article history. This section is filled out by the editor.

    • Keywords. Keywords should be listed on a single line, separated by commas, and written in italics using Times New Roman font size 9 pt and a line spacing of 1.0.

    • General Provisions. Avoid using bullet points, numbering, or item lists in the article content. Use narrative paragraphs instead.
      The document should be:
      • A4 paper size.
      • Top margin: 4 cm. Left, right, and bottom margins: 3 cm.
      • Portrait layout.
      • Text in two columns, justified alignment.
      • Times New Roman font size 11 pt.
      • Single line spacing of 1 pt.
      • 6 pt spacing between paragraphs.
      • No indent.

    • Chapter Writing. Chapter titles should be Times New Roman font size 11 pt, 6 pt spacing after the title, not indented, not numbered, refer to chapter styles or "Style" with the title "Chapter Writing." Each chapter must have at least one sub-chapter.

    • Sub-chapter writing. Sub-chapter titles should be Times New Roman font size 11 pt, italics, 0 pt spacing before the title, 6 pt spacing after the title, sentence case (capitalized first letter, lowercase for the rest) without periods.

Sub-chapter content should be written in paragraphs instead of using item lists. Equations or formulas should be left-aligned. Equation numbering should be right-aligned.

    • Equations and symbols. Use an equation editor to create equations and symbols, adhering to standard conventions. Symbols and notations within equations should be defined descriptively upon their initial occurrence. Explanations for symbol annotations within equations should be crafted in paragraph format, avoiding the use of item lists.

Utilize a spacing before of 0 pt and a spacing after of 6 pt.

Equations and formulas should be left-aligned, with numbering right-aligned. Use "Eq. (1)" to refer to equations within the text, except at the beginning of sentences where "Equation (1)" is appropriate.

Each table/figure must be referenced in the text. Referencing should not rely on location indicators (below, above, following, etc.).

Tables should be auto-fit to one or two columns for larger space requirements. The font size for tables should range between 8 - 10, with footnotes in size 8. Text within tables should have a spacing of 1 pt, without spacing before and after paragraphs.

Images should be presented in high resolution, ensuring clarity and readability after printing. Images should not be copied from other documents. Borders are not necessary for images, and poor-quality images will be rejected. Graphs should include axis titles and legends, without including a title directly on the graph image. Each numerical value (axis value) on a graph should have tick points on its axis lines.

    • Tables and Figures. Tables, images, and graphs should not appear immediately after the title but must commence with a narrative and be sequentially numbered. Table captions are placed at the top of the table using the 'center' format, while image captions are positioned below the image, also using the 'center' format.

    • References. The references should include at least 15 entries, with 80% sourced from journals and 20% from books. References should be from the past 10 years, adhere to the citation format outlined in the APA 6th edition. For assistance with citation and reference formatting, refer to the resources available at https://apastyle.apa.org/6th-edition-resources.

  4. The total number of pages should range from 9 to 12 pages, including the references.
  5. Published articles must be free of errors, including issues such as forgery and plagiarism. This should be substantiated through proof obtained from a plagiarism check, with a requirement that the similarity index is less than 15%.
