Abstract
Pengolahan limbah cair rumah sakit menjadi tantangan tersendiri di Indonesia. Karakteristik limbah cair rumah sakit yang mengandung senyawa obat-obatan dan senyawa toksik lainnya membuat teknologi pengolahan biologis konvensional umumnya kurang efektif. Penelitian ini mengevaluasi kinerja instalasi pengolahan air limbah (IPAL) Rumah Sakit XYZ. Asesmen dilakukan dengan komparasi kualitas efluen IPAL dengan baku mutu air limbah di Indonesia, analisis efisiensi penyisihan kontaminan dan kriteria desain. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan cara observasi, wawancara, kompilasi data sekunder kualitas air, serta sampling dan uji laboratorium. Kajian data kualitas air pada efluen IPAL menunjukkan parameter TSS (35,08 ± 18,73 mg/L), amoniak bebas (1,14 ± 1,01 mg/L), nitrat (13,59 ± 10,23 mg/L), Total Coliform (13076 ± 43137 MPN/100 mL) dan fenol (1,556 ± 0,73 mg/L) belum memenuhi baku mutu. Demikian pula hasil sampling dan uji laboratorium menunjukkan tingkat penyisihan BOD (57%), COD (68%), TSS (61%), dan Nitrat (-244%) masih belum optimal. Berdasarkan hasil asesmen, beberapa rekomendasi teknis telat diberikan untuk dapat meningkatkan kinerja IPAL rumah sakit XYZ.
