Fitoremediasi Logam Cu Dan Zn dengan Tanaman Eceng Gondok (Eichhornia Crassipes (Mart.) Solms)

Abstract

The research on phytoremediation of Cu and Zn metals by water hyacinth (Eichhornia crassipes (Mart.) Solms) has been done. The research aim was to describe the adsorbtion of Cu and Zn metals by experimental plants as function of initial concentration of metal, pH of growth media, contacting time, and competiting effect of metal uptake by plant, respectively. All the experiments were done by pot experiment with aqueous media. Wet digestion by nitric acid was also used to digest all samples. Metals concentration was measured by atomic absorbtion spectrofotometry. The result showed that (i) the initial concentration of metal and contacting time influenced metal absorption by plant. The highest metal concentration of Cu and Zn was up taken at initial concentration of 15 ppm (30.000 µg) and contacting time of 14th days in order to 581,40 and 158,33 ìg/g; (ii) the pH of growth media influenced Cu and Zn metals absorption by plant was at pH 7 in order to 442,89 and 550,15 ìg/g; (iii) the presence of both metals in growth media gave competiting effect; (iv) the highest metal concentration was found on root and become lesser in order on leaf and stalk.
