Abstract
Telah dilakukan isomerisasi 3-carene menjadi 4-carene dengan katalis NaOHklorotoluena. Katalis NaOH-klorotoluena dibuat dengan cara mereaksikan NaOH dan oklorotoluena. Hasil isomerisasi menunjukkan bahwa NaOH-klorotoluena tidak dapat menjadi katalis pada isomerisasi 3-carene menjadi 4-carene. Namun, hasil reaksi dari NaOH dan o-klorotoluena diasumsikan membentuk senyawa fenol yang dapat mengkonversi 3-carene menjadi β-pinene. Persentase senyawa β-pinene yang dihasilkan sebesar 0,72%.
