Abstract
Purpose – This study aims to analyze the effect of corruption on unemployment in ASEAN between 2014 and 2023.
Methods – This study uses a fixed effects panel data analysis method, where the determining variables for unemployment are Corruption Perception Index, population, inflation, Gross Domestic Product, and Foreign Direct Investment.
Findings – The results of this study indicate that the corruption and population a positive and significant effect on the unemployment rate. Meanwhile, inflation, GDP, and FDI have a negative and significant impact on the Unemployment Rate in ASEAN.
Implication – This research implies that corruption and population growth exacerbate unemployment, while inflation, GDP, and foreign investment contribute to job creation. Therefore, the government needs to reduce corruption and strengthen governance to increase investment and long-term growth potential, thereby sustainably reducing unemployment.
Originality – This study contributes to research using panel data in ASEAN, focusing on the effect of corruption on unemployment.
Abstrak
Tujuan – Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh korupsi terhadap pengangguran di ASEAN pada periode 2014 – 2023.
Metode – Penelitian ini menggunakan metode analisis data panel fixed effect dimana variabel penentu pengangguran adalah Jumlah Penduduk, Inflasi, Produk Domestik Bruto, Penanaman Modal Asing, dan Indeks Persepsi Korupsi.
Temuan – Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa hasil untuk korupsi dan jumlah penduduk berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap tingkat pengangguran. Sedangkan variabel inflasi, PDB, dan PMA memiliki pengaruh negatif dan signifikan terhadap Tingkat Pengangguran di ASEAN
Implikasi – Implikasi dari penelitian ini adalah korupsi dan pertumbuhan jumlah penduduk memperburuk tingkat pengangguran, sementara inflasi, PDB, dan penanaman modal asing berkontribusi pada penciptaan lapangan kerja. Oleh karena itu, pemerintah perlu menurunkan tingkat korupsi dan memperkuat tata kelola pemerintahan untuk meningkatkan investasi dan potensi pertumbuhan jangka panjang, sehingga dapat menekan pengangguran secara berkelanjutan.
Orisinalitas – Penelitian ini berkontribusi terhadap penelitian menggunakan panel data di ASEAN dengan fokus analisis pada pengaruh korupsi terhadap pengangguran.
