Abstract
This study investigates the depiction of women on social media platforms and their ramifications for social work intervention. Utilizing qualitative content analysis, a selection of social media posts were examined to discern prevalent themes concerning women's portrayals. Our analysis reveals a multifaceted landscape characterized by discussions on body image, perpetuation of stereotypes, narratives of empowerment, and advocacy. Through thematic interpretation, we explored the significance of these themes in shaping societal perceptions of gender and influencing individual behaviors. In addition, we discuss the implications of these findings for social work practice, highlighting the necessity of challenging detrimental stereotypes and fostering gender equity. Despite limitations such as sample size and generalizability, this study contributes to the ongoing discourse on gender representation in the media and its impact on social justice initiatives.
