Abstract
Business incubation appears to be the way out to fight startup failure, as it ensures business sustainability across Africa. This study focuses on a review of both business incubator and incubatee challenges affecting success across Africa. Through an online search, notably, Google Scholar, Researchgate, Web of Science, EBSCOhost, Scopus, and Crossref, a total of 39 documents were retained and utilized in this study. The review results highlight incubator factors - staff competencies, entrepreneurial skills, funding and sponsorship, government policies, networking, facilities, sustainability, and incubatee factors (commitment, networking, access to tech facilities, funding, and facilities) – as the key factors challenging business incubation initiatives across Africa. The researchers concluded that for optimal performance, there is a strong need for networking between incubators and incubatees.
