Abstract
Kegagalan material poros akibat dari pembebanan berlebihan sering kali terjadi pada dunia industri. Kegagalan tersebut biasanya berupa defleksi (lendutan) yang berdeformasi secara plastis. Pemilihan material ulang poros perlu dilakukan agar kegagalan serupa tidak kembali terjadi pada poros saringan gram roll grinding machine#4. Pemilihan ulang material poros saringan gram ini dilakukan menggunakan metode ashby dengan mempertimbangkan indeks dari material tersebut. Didapatkan bahwa awalnya poros menggunakan material AISI 1015 dengan yield Strength sebesar 300 MPa. Sementara itu tegangan maksimum yang terjadi pada poros akibat beban gram sebesar 318 Mpa, sehingga poros terdeformasi secara plastis. Material baru yang dipilih adalah Low Carbon Steel AISI 1022, namun dapat pula dipertimbangkan menggunakan Medium Carbon Steel AISI 1045. Pemilihan ini didasarkan dari tujuan pemilihan material poros yang selain kuat, namun juga relatif ringan dan juga relatif murah.
