Abstract
Pencemaran logam berat timbal (Pb) di lingkungan menjadi salah satu permasalahan serius yang dihadapi banyak negara di dunia termasuk Indonesia. Salah satu sumber pencemaran logam berat timbal yaitu lindi (leachate) dari Tempat Pemrosesan Akhir (TPA) karena keberadaan instalasi pengolahan air lindi di TPA yang masih sangat kurang. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji kemampuan constructed wetland dalam menurunkan logam berat Pb pada air lindi TPA Piyungan, Yogyakarta. Penelitian ini menggunakan reaktor constructed wetland berukuran 50 x 100 cm dengan diberikan tanah setebal 5 cm dan tumbuhan Eceng gondok (Eichornia crassipes) sebanyak 14 buah. Beberapa variabel penelitian yaitu konsentrasi awal limbah (0; 25; 50; 75 dan 100%) dan waktu pengujian 0, 3, 6, 9 dan 12 hari. Pengujian konsentrasi Pb dilakukan dengan menggunakan Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry (AAS). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sistem constructed wetland dengan menggunakan tumbuhan Eceng gondok mampu menyerap kadar Pb dalam air lindi TPA Piyungan hingga 0,086 mg/l (akar) dan 0,02 mg/l (daun) untuk waktu kontak 12 hari. Kondisi tumbuhan Eceng gondok sampai dengan akhir penelitian masih terlihat normal dan dapat hidup dan berkembang dengan baik.
