Abstract
ABSTRACT: College Students frequently face academic pressures requiring robust emotion regulation. However, research on local wisdom-based physical activities, such as traditional games, addressing this domain remains limited. This study aimed to examine the dynamics of the traditional game Gobak Sodor as an intervention for emotion regulation among university students. Adopting a pretest-posttest control group design, this study involved 16 students from University "X" aged 19–22 years. Data were gathered using the Emotion Regulation Scale and analyzed with the non-parametric Mann-Whitney U test. The statistical analysis revealed no significant effect (p = .343). Nevertheless, descriptive analysis indicated that the experimental group demonstrated a higher average score increase (7.5 points) compared to the control group (3.4 points). These findings indicate that while statistical significance was not achieved due to sample size limitations, the game of Gobak Sodor holds potential as an alternative activity within student psychological support programs.

ABSTRAK: Mahasiswa sering dihadapkan pada tekanan akademik yang menuntut kemampuan regulasi emosi yang matang, namun penelitian mengenai pendekatan aktivitas fisik berbasis kearifan lokal seperti permainan tradisional terhadap aspek ini masih terbatas. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji dinamika intervensi permainan tradisional Gobak Sodor terhadap regulasi emosi pada mahasiswa. Menggunakan desain Pre-test Post-test Control Group, penelitian ini melibatkan 16 mahasiswa Universitas “X” berusia 19–22 tahun. Data dikumpulkan menggunakan Skala Regulasi Emosi dan dianalisis menggunakan uji non-parametrik Mann-Whitney U. Hasil Penelitian menunjukan tidak terdapat pengaruh signifikan secara statistik (p = .343). Meski demikian, analisis deskriptif mengindikasikan bahwa kelompok eksperimen menunjukkan peningkatan skor rata-rata yang lebih tinggi (7.5 poin) dibandingkan kelompok kontrol (3.4 poin). Temuan ini mengindikasikan bahwa meskipun signifikansi statistik belum tercapai karena keterbatasan sampel, permainan Gobak Sodor memiliki potensi sebagai aktivitas alternatif dalam program pendampingan psikologis mahasiswa.
