Abstract
ABSTRACT: Emerging adulthood is a transitional phase filled with both internal and external demands, making individuals vulnerable to chronic stress that can potentially develop into depression. This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) in reducing depressive symptoms among emerging adults in Community "X", Bandung. An experimental method with a pretest-posttest control group design was employed, involving 20 participants allocated into two groups: an experimental group (n = 10) and a control group (n = 10). Data were gathered using the Beck Depression Inventory-II (BDI-II) and the Five Facet Mindfulness Questionnaire (FFMQ). The MBCT intervention was delivered across eight sessions over two months. The results indicated that the MBCT intervention had a significant effect on reducing depressive symptoms among emerging adults in the community (Z = -2.812, p = .005). These findings suggest that MBCT can be implemented as an effective psychological intervention program to reduce depression levels in the emerging adult population.

ABSTRAK: Masa dewasa awal merupakan fase transisi yang penuh dengan tuntutan internal maupun eksternal, sehingga rentan memicu stres berkelanjutan yang berpotensi berkembang menjadi depresi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji efektivitas intervensi Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) dalam menurunkan gejala depresi pada individu dewasa awal di Komunitas “X” Kota Bandung. Metode yang digunakan adalah eksperimental dengan pretest-posttest control group design dengan melibatkan 20 orang partisipan yang dibagi ke dalam dua kelompok: kelompok eksperimen (n = 10) dan kelompok kontrol (n = 10). Data dikumpulkan menggunakan Beck Depression Inventory-II (BDI-II) dan Five Facet Mindfulness Questionnaire (FFMQ). Intervensi MBCT dilaksanakan sebanyak delapan sesi selama dua bulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa intervensi MBCT berpengaruh signifikan terhadap penurunan gejala depresi pada individu dewasa awal di komunitas tersebut (Z = -2.812, p = .005) . Temuan ini mengindikasikan bahwa MBCT dapat diterapkan sebagai salah satu program intervensi psikologis yang efektif untuk mereduksi tingkat depresi pada kelompok dewasa awal.
