Abstract
Telah dilakukan eksperimen pengaruh konsentrasi nacl, tegangan dan jenis elektroda dalam proses elektrolisis air terhadap perubahan ph. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi optimalisasi elektroda grafit dalam produksi ion H+ dan OH- pada elektrolisis air sebagai katalis sistem biodiesel. Eksperimen dilakukan dengan elektrolisis aquades 100 ml yang ditambahkan elektrolit nacl dengan variasi konsentrasi 0-0,8 M pada variasi tegangan DC 5-20 V. Elektroda yang digunakan adalah grafit, stainless steel dan Titanium beserta gabungannya. Pengukuran ph, konduktivitas listrik dan arus dilakukan setiap interval 5 menit selama 60 menit yang dilakukan 3kali. Hasil penelitian menunjukan, nilai ph meningkat secara signifikan sebesar 5,6->9 pada konsentrasi elektrolit yang tinggi dan atau tegangan yang tinggi menggunakan elektroda grafit. Konsentrasi nacl rendah (4x10-4 M) menggunakan elektroda G(Anoda)-SS(Katoda) dan G(Anoda)-Ti(Katoda) pada tegangan 10V menghasilkan nilai ph yang tinggi yaitu 5~10. Alkalinitias yang terbentuk dapat membantu meningkatkan laju reaksi transesterifikasi metil ester. Sehingga elektrosintesis biodiesel dapat dilakukan tanpa katalis tambahan.
