Abstract
Telah dilakukan perbandingan penelitian pengolahan limbah cair laboratorium kimia dengan metode koagulasi berdasarkan jenis koagulan, sintesis dan alami. Koagulan yang digunakan yaitu Poli Alumunium Klorida (sintesis) dan Kacang Arab (alami). Dengan variasi dosis sebesar 0,025; 0,05 dan 0,1 g/250 ml. Proses koagulasi dilakukan dengan cara pengadukkan limbah dengan koagulan dan dipresipitasi. Efektivitas perbandingan proses koagulasi dievaluasi dengan melihat penurunan angka Total Zat Padat Terlarut (TDS), Kondukstivitas Listrik (EC) dan Derajat Keasaman (pH). Kondisi awal sampel limbah yang telah diencerkan 10x memiliki angka TDS, EC dan pH berturut turut sebesar 332 ppm; 0.42 ms/cm; dan pH 5,2. Hasil terbaik koagulasi dengan koagulan sintesis memiliki nilai parameter berturut-turut sebesar 303 ppm; 0,42 ms/cm dan pH 4,2 pada dosis 0,1 g/250ml sedangkan perolehan hasil maksimal diperoleh dari koagulan alami dengan dosis 0,05 memiliki nilai berturut-turut sebesar 277 ppm; 0,38 ms/cm dan pH 4,9. Berdasarkan hasil yang diperoleh dapat disimpulkan koagulan alami lebih aman digunakan untuk pengolahan air limbah dan terbukti dapat menurunkan kandungan zat pencemar yang terdapat pada limbah laboratorium.
