AIM

The Journal of Intellectual Property (JIPRO) is a peer-reviewed, open-access academic journal dedicated to advancing scholarly discourse on intellectual property law from a Global South perspective. Published by the Faculty of Law, Universitas Islam Indonesia, JIPRO provides an international forum for examining how intellectual property systems can foster innovation, creativity, sustainable development, and economic growth while simultaneously promoting justice, inclusivity, and the protection of public interests.

JIPRO recognizes that intellectual property law operates within diverse social, cultural, economic, and technological contexts. While many intellectual property regimes are shaped by global standards and international agreements, their implementation often presents unique challenges for developing countries. Accordingly, the journal encourages critical and comparative scholarship that explores intellectual property law in Indonesia, ASEAN, and other developing jurisdictions, while situating these experiences within broader international and transnational legal frameworks.

The journal particularly seeks to promote research addressing the interaction between intellectual property rights and contemporary societal challenges, including the protection of traditional knowledge, genetic resources, cultural heritage, sustainable development, digital transformation, artificial intelligence, platform economies, and emerging technological innovations. JIPRO values scholarship that contributes to the ongoing debate on balancing exclusive proprietary rights with broader social objectives such as access to knowledge, cultural preservation, technological dissemination, environmental sustainability, and equitable development.

By fostering rigorous legal, interdisciplinary, comparative, and policy-oriented research, JIPRO aims to become a leading reference for scholars, practitioners, policymakers, judges, industry stakeholders, and international organizations interested in the evolving role of intellectual property law in shaping a fair, sustainable, and innovation-driven society.
