Peer Review Process

Peer Review Process for Jurnal Ilmiah Farmasi (JIF)

  • Reviewer Selection: Reviewers are selected based on their expertise in the subject area of the manuscript being reviewed.
  • Double-Blind Peer Review: The journal follows a double-blind peer review process, meaning both the reviewers and the authors remain anonymous to each other. All stages of the review process are conducted through the Open Journal Systems (OJS) online platform.
  • Compliance with Standards and Scope: The manuscript is initially reviewed by the Editor-in-Chief and the editorial staff to ensure it aligns with the journal's scope and standards. If the manuscript does not meet the scope, it will be rejected. If the manuscript fails to comply with the journal's standards, the authors will be asked to make necessary revisions to comply with the required guidelines.
  • Plagiarism Check: The manuscript undergoes a plagiarism check using Turnitin software. The plagiarism report is reviewed by the Managing Editor, who may reject the manuscript or request the authors to revise the manuscript to address the identified issues.
  • Appointment of Reviewers: After confirming that the manuscript meets the scope and plagiarism requirements, one editor is assigned, and two reviewers are invited to evaluate the manuscript.
  • Decision Criteria: If two reviewers reject the manuscript, it will be declined. If there is a disagreement among the reviewers about whether to reject the manuscript, one additional reviewer will be invited. This reviewer will have time to analyze the manuscript and provide their feedback.
  • Requests for Revisions: The Editor may request further information or revisions from the authors, either in conjunction with or separately from the peer review reports.
  • Rounds of Review: Normally, there is one round of review. However, in cases where significant revisions are required, a second round of review may be necessary.
  • Timeframe for Revisions: The time given to authors to return a revised manuscript depends on the complexity of the required revisions. If the revised manuscript is not returned on time, the article may be rejected, although resubmission as a new submission is permitted.
  • Final Decision: The Editor or editorial board considers the feedback provided by the peer reviewers and makes the final decision on the manuscript. The most common decisions are as follows:
    • Accept Submission: The manuscript is accepted for publication without any revisions.
    • Revisions Required: The manuscript is accepted with minor revisions.
    • Resubmit for Review: The manuscript requires substantial revisions and will be re-reviewed before a final decision is made.
    • Decline Submission: The manuscript is not accepted for publication.
