Abstract
Artikel ini merupakan hasil dari penelitian kualitatif dengan menggunakan pendekatan studi kepustakaan (library research). Hasil penelitian ini menggambarkan bahwa di era digital saat sekarang ini terjadi apa yang kita kenal dengan sebutan ledakan informasi (information explosion). Problematika atas ledakan informasi dapat dilihat dari meningkatnya produksi maupun distribusi beraneka ragam informasi melalui media digital. Beragam informasi bercampur dan tersebar ke public, sehingga diperlukan keterampilan bagi publik untuk bisa memilah dan memilih informasi secara cepat, tepat dan efektif yang sudah kita kenal dengan istilah literasi informasi (information literacy skill). Dalam perspektif ajaran Islam pun kita bisa menemukan ajaran yang membahas tentang pentingnya literasi informasi ini. Dalam menerima informasi, umat Islam diajarkan untuk tidak serta merta menelan mentah-mentah informasi tersebut tanpa melakukan terlebih dahulu tabayyun atau klarifikasi terhadap informasi terkait. Dengan demikian, ketika publik memiliki kemampuan literasi informasi yang baik, maka dampak negatif yang ditimbulkan dari ledakan informasi yang terjadi di era digital saat ini akan bisa diminimalisai.
