Journal Description

“Jurnal Mahasiswa Komunikasi CANTRIK” is a research journal for communication students published by the Department of Communications at the Universitas Islam Indonesia. Jurnal Mahasiswa Komunikasi CANTRIK aims to publish research conducted by students in the field of communication. It is expected that Jurnal Mahasiswa Komunikasi CANTRIK will foster a culture of research and publication among students, serving as an initial step towards becoming dedicated and professional communication researchers.

Focus

Jurnal Mahasiswa Komunikasi CANTRIK is an academic journal focusing on empirical research in communication conducted using qualitative, quantitative, or mixed methods.

 

Scope

Jurnal Mahasiswa Komunikasi CANTRIK publishes diverse research themes in communication, ranging from interpersonal communication, group communication, organizational communication, and mass communication to interactive communication. Jurnal Mahasiswa Komunikasi CANTRIK is also open to empirical research with themes such as public relations, media studies, journalism, and the creative media industry.

 

Peer Review Process

Articles submitted to Jurnal Mahasiswa Komunikasi CANTRIK will be reviewed if they meet the writing guidelines and are aligned with the journal's focus and scope.

Manuscripts should adhere to the writing format specified by Jurnal Mahasiswa Komunikasi CANTRIK. The referencing style should follow the guidelines outlined in the 7th edition of the American Psychological Association (APA) Manual. The use of Mendeley or Zotero applications is highly recommended.

All manuscripts submitted to Jurnal Mahasiswa Komunikasi CANTRIK will undergo a double-blind review process. This means that the authors and the reviewers are unaware of each other's identities. The editor is responsible for the articles; those deemed suitable will be reviewed. One reviewer will review each article according to the article's theme. Whether to accept or reject an article is determined through an editorial meeting or by the editor-in-chief.

All articles will be reviewed based on the journal's scope and Author Guidelines in the first review stage. Manuscripts that meet both conditions will be forwarded to the section editor. All journal manuscripts that meet these two prerequisites will be checked for plagiarism checker process through iThenticate and Turnitin. Manuscripts with a more than 20% plagiarism rate will be rejected automatically.

 After the plagiarism check, Section Editors will receive the manuscripts and send them to Reviewers selected by Section Editors. The manuscripts will be blindly reviewed by two experts in the field of study (double-blind review).

 The Editor's meeting will make the final decision on publication. The decision, based on the advice of the reviewers, could be categorized into (1) acceptable without revisions; (2) acceptable for publication after minor revisions; (3) acceptable for publication after significant revisions; and (4) reject.

 

Publication Frequency

Jurnal Mahasiswa Komunikasi CANTRIK is published twice yearly (May and November).

 

Open Access Policy

Articles published in the Jurnal Mahasiswa Komunikasi CANTRIK are open to the public free of charge in an effort to support global knowledge sharing.

Jurnal Mahasiswa Komunikasi CANTRIK does not accept advertisements in any form.

Direct Marketing

Jurnal Mahasiswa Komunikasi CANTRIK will promote and publish to the public. In that context, we will always consider ethics and not harm other parties.

DUTIES OF EDITORS

Some key responsibilities of a journal editor:

Managing the Editorial Process: Editors oversee the entire editorial process, from manuscript submission to publication. They coordinate with authors, reviewers, and the journal's editorial board to ensure a smooth and timely workflow.

Reviewing Manuscripts: Editors evaluate submitted manuscripts to determine their suitability for publication. They assess the relevance, originality, and quality of the research presented in the manuscript. Editors may also conduct an initial screening to verify compliance with the journal's guidelines and ethical standards.

 Peer Review Coordination: Editors manage the peer review process by assigning manuscripts to appropriate reviewers and ensuring timely completion of the review process. They may guide reviewers and make decisions based on their recommendations.

Editorial Decision Making: Editors decide to accept, reject, or revise manuscripts based on the reviews received. They weigh the reviewers' feedback, consider the manuscript's significance and suitability for the journal, and make informed decisions in consultation with the editorial board.

Ensuring Quality and Integrity: Editors uphold the journal's standards of quality and integrity. They ensure that the research published is rigorous, accurate, and adheres to ethical guidelines. Editors may also check for plagiarism, data fabrication, or other forms of misconduct and take appropriate action when necessary.

Collaborating with Authors: Editors may work closely with authors, providing feedback and suggestions to improve their manuscripts. They may guide authors in revising their work and help ensure clarity, organization, and adherence to the journal's style guidelines.

Staying Updated: Editors must stay abreast of the latest developments and trends in their field. They should be aware of emerging research topics, changes in publishing practices, and evolving ethical standards. This helps editors maintain the journal's relevance and ensure high-quality content.

 Editorial Board Management: Editors often work with an editorial board consisting of subject experts. They collaborate with board members, seek input on important decisions, and manage board meetings and communications.
