Journal History

2017 -- AJMC (Asian Journal of Media and Communication) was first published in 2017. The editors were Muzayin Nazaruddin, Holy Rafika Dhona, Masduki, and Zaki Habibi.

2020/2021 -- AJMC welcomes new editors and reviewers from various backgrounds and countries. AJMC has also been edited by editors from more than four countries, including the US, Switzerland, Sweden, Indonesia, and Estonia. Our manuscript has also been reviewed by reviewers from more than four countries, including Australia, the US, Switzerland, Sweden, India, and Indonesia. In the past year, we have regularly published 10 articles. The authors came from more than 10 countries: the Philippines, Hong Kong, China, Bangladesh, Nigeria, Iran, Indonesia, Pakistan, India, and Africa. 

2021 -- AJMC goes to rebranding. Logos are new and designed, but still make green the core color. The rebranding also makes some changes to the Style Sheet.

2023 -- AJMC restructured the editorial board as mentioned on the Editorial Team here and welcomes Narayana Mahendra Pratsya, MA., S.Sos. (Department of Communications, Universitas Islam Indonesia, Indonesia) to our section editors.

2025-2026 -- AJMC restructured the editorial board, as noted on the Editorial Team page. We welcome Dian Dwi Anisa, M.A. (Department of Communications, Universitas Islam Indonesia, Yogyakarta, Indonesia),  Lutviah, MA (Department of Communications, Universitas Islam Indonesia, Indonesia), Prof. Harihar Bhattacharyya (University of Burdwan, Golapbag, Burdwan, West Bengal, India), Prof. Dr. Rashid Mehmood (Islamic University of Madinah, Saudi Arabia), Christopher L. Atkinson, PhD (University of West Florida, Pensacola, Florida, USA), Guoying Yang, PhD (JIMEI University, Xiamen, Fujian, China), Dr. Samia Benaissa Pedriza (Complutense University of Madrid, Spain), Ng Siaw Hung, Ph.D. (School of ASEAN Studies, Guangxi Minzu University, China), Maarit Jaakkola (University of Gothenburg, Sweden), and Dr. Elisa Espín Gallardo (Universidad Miguel Hernández, Elche, Spain) as our editorial team. 

Mid 2026 -- We introduces some new changes to our journal interface and doing some consistent quality improved including (1) we are deposited our articles to 'crossmark-crossref' based on our crossmark policy to facilitate the updating, and tracking of content changes or updates to every articles (including retraction, revision, etc), (2) we change and add more specific requirement in the editorial policies about our focus and scope, (3) we rebrand our header logo, change the theme color (from dark green to light orange) for consistency with the PDF print style sheet, (4). We reorganize our sidebar menus to clearly articulate the editorial policy and journal management standard and make it easy for readers to find the guidelines.
