Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji pengaruh penggunaan media sosial terhadap kesejahteraan mental mahasiswa Fakultas Ilmu Agama Islam Universitas Islam Indonesia (UII). Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kualitatif dengan pendekatan studi kasus. Data diperoleh melalui wawancara mendalam dan observasi partisipatif terhadap sejumlah mahasiswa yang aktif menggunakan media sosial. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan media sosial yang berlebihan berdampak negatif pada kesejahteraan mental mahasiswa. Dampak negatif yang paling signifikan adalah peningkatan tingkat stres dan kecemasan, gangguan kualitas tidur, serta perasaan isolasi sosial. Mahasiswa yang sering menggunakan media sosial melaporkan tekanan untuk memenuhi ekspektasi yang tidak realistis dan perbandingan sosial yang membuat mereka merasa tidak puas dengan diri sendiri. Temuan juga menunjukkan bahwa faktor-faktor seperti durasi penggunaan, jenis konten yang diakses, dan cara penggunaan (aktif vs pasif) mempengaruhi dampak media sosial terhadap kesejahteraan mental. Dukungan sosial dari keluarga dan teman terbukti efektif dalam mengurangi dampak negatif tersebut. Penelitian ini menyarankan pentingnya edukasi tentang penggunaan media sosial yang bijak, peningkatan dukungan sosial, serta pembatasan waktu penggunaan media sosial untuk mengurangi dampak negatif terhadap kesejahteraan mental mahasiswa. Institusi pendidikan diharapkan dapat mengembangkan strategi dan program yang mendukung kesehatan mental mahasiswa di era digital ini
