Ownership and Management
The Economic Journal of Emerging Markets (EJEM) is published by the Centre for Economic Studies (Pusat Pengkajian Ekonomi – PPE), Faculty of Business and Economics, Universitas Islam Indonesia, Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Along with all journals published within the university, the ultimate ownership of the journal resides with Universitas Islam Indonesia. Under the current institutional regulations in the university, the Centre for Economic Studies (PPE), the Faculty of Business and Economics, and Universitas Islam Indonesia collaboratively share responsibilities for managing and supporting the journal.
The Centre for Economic Studies (PPE) provides funding for management of the journal on a daily basis, including editorial team's annual salary, editorial meetings, and others. The editorial team was initially proposed by the Director of the Centre for Economic Studies (PPE) to the Dean of the Faculty of Business and Economics.
The Faculty of Business and Economics provides funding for regular meetings, evaluations, and others. The editorial team was legally appointed by an official letter signed by the Dean of of Faculty of Business and Economics
Universitas Islam Indonesia provides funding to cover costs associated with the needs of all journals, including annual membership in Crossref, annual membership in Portico, annual membership in DOAJ, Open Journal Systems hosting and maintenance, and others.
The Economic Journal of Emerging Markets is not currently affiliated with any external scholarly society or professional association. The journal clearly identifies its ownership and management structure to ensure transparency and to avoid misleading potential authors, editors, or readers regarding the nature of the journal’s ownership.
The journal adheres to the WAME policies on The Relationship Between Journal Editors-in-Chief and Owners. Editor-in-Chief, the Centre for Economic Studies (PPE), the Faculty of Business and Economics, and Universitas Islam Indonesia share a common goal of ensuring the success and quality of the journal while maintaining clearly defined roles and responsibilities. The Editor-in-Chief has full authority over the editorial content of the journal, a principle commonly referred to as editorial independence. Editorial content includes research articles, editorials, and other materials published in either electronic or print formats, as well as decisions regarding how and when such materials are published. The Centre for Economic Studies (PPE), the Faculty of Business and Economics, and Universitas Islam Indonesia support the core values and policies of the organisation and are ultimately responsible for all aspects of publishing the journal, including its staff, budget, and business policies as previously mentioned.
The relationship between the Editor-in-Chief, the Centre for Economic Studies (PPE), the Faculty of Business and Economics, and Universitas Islam Indonesia is based on mutual respect, trust, and recognition of each party’s authority and responsibilities. This governance structure ensures that the editorial process remains independent while the institutional owner continues to provide administrative, financial, and technical support necessary for the journal’s sustainability and development.
