Abstract

Artikel ini berusaha menjelaskan tentang adanya hubungan antara kelompok radikalisme dengan media sosial yang berbasis pada internet, sehingga terjadinya pergeseran literasi keagamaan di kalangan generasi milenial. Pola penyebaran paham tersebut semakin tumbuh subur di kalangan pelajar dan generasi milenial melalui media sosial. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menjawab dua pertanyaan pokok: Bagaimana potensi penyebaran radiklaisme di kalangan generasi milenial melalui media sosial? Sejauh mana media literasi dalam mencegah radikalisme pada generasi milenial? Hasil penelitian ini membuktikan bahwa generasi minenial mudah terpapar paham radikalisme melalui media sosial. Adanya pergeseran bentuk dan pola penyebaran isu radikalisme dari literasi buku ke dunia cyber. Penelitian ini diharapkan memperkaya hasil riset dan kajian dalam isu generasi milenial, intoleransi serta radikalisme di Indonesia.

The Shift of Literacy Among Millennials as the Result of Radicalism Spreading in Social Media

This article tries to explain about the relationship between radical groups and social media or the internet, so that there is a shif in religious literacy among the millenial generation. The pattern of spreading radicalism is increasingly thriving among students and millennials through social media. This research aims to answer two main questions: What is the potential of radicalism among millennials through social media? To what extent is media literacy in preventing radicalism in millennial generations? The results of this study prove that millennial generation is easily exposed to radicalism through social media. There is a shift in the form and patteren of the spread of radicalism issues from book literacy to the cyber world. This research is expected to enrich the results of research and studies on the issue of millennial generation, intolerance, and radicalism in Indonesia.
