Archiving

Articles published in the Journal of Islamic Economics Lariba (JIELariba) are securely preserved through three complementary archiving services. Portico is a not-for-profit digital preservation service that ingests and stores content in multiple geographically dispersed, secure facilities, ensuring that articles remain accessible even if the publisher ceases operations. LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) operates as a decentralized, peer-to-peer network in which participating libraries host and regularly audit preserved copies of journal content, automatically repairing any damaged or missing files. Finally, the PKP Index—maintained by the Public Knowledge Project—harvests and indexes metadata from Open Journal Systems installations worldwide, serving both as a discovery platform and a lightweight preservation layer for journal records.

In line with the Principles of Transparency and Best Practice in Scholarly Publishing, JIELariba clearly articulates its long-term digital preservation strategy. By partnering with Portico, LOCKSS, and the PKP Index—all of which are recognized by the Keepers Registry—JIELariba guarantees that its scholarly content is backed up electronically and remains available in perpetuity, even under the unlikely circumstance that the journal or its publisher suspends operations.
