Authorship & Contributorship Policy
Al-Mawarid: Jurnal Syariah dan Hukum adheres to the principles of transparency and best practices in scholarly publishing as established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), the Open Access Scholarly Publishing Association (OASPA), and the World Association of Medical Editors (WAME). This policy defines authorship and contributorship requirements to ensure clear and accountable attribution of contributions to published works. As an open-access journal operating under a CC BY-SA license, authors retain copyright of their articles while granting broad permissions for distribution and reuse. The journal follows the Core Practices of COPE: https://publicationethics.org/core-practices.
Criteria for Authorship
Authorship should be based on substantial intellectual contributions to the research. To qualify as an author, individuals must meet all of the following criteria:
- Substantial Contributions: Significant involvement in the conception or design of the study; data collection, analysis, or interpretation; and drafting or critically revising the manuscript for important intellectual content.
- Approval of Final Version: All authors must approve the final version of the manuscript and agree to be accountable for its content.
- Accountability: Authors must be able to explain and defend the research findings in appropriate academic or public forums if required.
Contributorship Statement
To enhance transparency, Al-Mawarid: Jurnal Syariah dan Hukum may request a contributorship statement upon submission. This statement should clearly specify each author’s role and contribution to the research. While this statement may not be published, it must accurately reflect the individual contributions of all authors.
Dispute Resolution
In the event of authorship disputes, the editorial board will follow a structured process to investigate and resolve the issue. All parties involved may be required to provide evidence of their contributions. The journal may consult COPE or other relevant bodies to ensure a fair and impartial resolution. However, the journal does not mediate personal disputes and cannot be held liable for conflicts among authors.
Changes in Authorship
Requests to add, remove, or rearrange authors after manuscript submission will only be considered under exceptional circumstances. Such requests must include a written explanation signed by all authors, clearly stating the reasons for the change. The editorial board will evaluate the request and may consult COPE guidelines where necessary.
Honorary and Ghost Authorship
Honorary (gift) authorship and ghost authorship are strictly prohibited. Individuals who have made only minor contributions should be acknowledged appropriately in the acknowledgment section but must not be listed as authors. The journal actively seeks to prevent and address such practices.
Declaration of Conflicts of Interest
Authors must disclose any potential conflicts of interest that could influence the interpretation of their research. These may include financial interests, institutional affiliations, or personal relationships that could compromise objectivity or credibility. Full transparency in disclosure is strongly encouraged.
Compliance with Ethical Guidelines
Authors must comply with the ethical standards of Al-Mawarid: Jurnal Syariah dan Hukum and accepted norms within their field. This includes obtaining permission for the use of copyrighted materials, securing informed consent from human participants, and ensuring the ethical treatment of animals in research.
Policy Review
This authorship policy will be periodically reviewed and updated to remain aligned with evolving best practices in scholarly publishing and recommendations from relevant organizations. Any revisions will be communicated to authors and made publicly available on the journal’s website.
