Publication Ethics and Misconduct
This statement outlines the ethical responsibilities of all parties involved in the publication process of this journal, including authors, editors, peer reviewers, and the publisher (Department of Ahwal Syakhshiyah, Universitas Islam Indonesia). It is based on the policies of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). al-Mawarid: Jurnal Syariah dan Hukum is committed to maintaining the highest standards of publication ethics among reviewers, authors, editors, and publishers.
Responsibilities of the Editor
- The Editors of al-Mawarid: Jurnal Syariah dan Hukum are responsible for deciding which articles are eligible for publication. Decisions are guided by the journal’s editorial policies and are subject to applicable legal requirements regarding defamation, copyright infringement, and plagiarism.
- In the review and decision-making process, the editorial team does not discriminate on the basis of position, race, gender, religion, ethnicity, citizenship, sexual orientation, or political ideology.
- Editors and the editorial team must not disclose any information about submitted manuscripts to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, other editorial advisers, or the publisher, as appropriate.
- Unpublished manuscripts must not be used in the editor’s own research without the author’s explicit written consent. Information obtained through the peer-review process must not be used for personal advantage.
- Editors must make decisions fairly and objectively, without any commercial bias, and in accordance with the peer-review process.
Responsibilities of Reviewers
- Reviewers assist editors in making editorial decisions regarding submitted manuscripts.
- Reviewers must treat all manuscripts as confidential documents and must not discuss them with others without authorization from the editor.
- Reviewers are responsible for the recommendations they provide.
- Reviews should be conducted objectively and supported by clear, well-reasoned arguments.
- Reviewers should identify relevant published work that has not been cited and alert editors to any substantial similarity or overlap with other publications.
- Reviewers are expected to contribute constructively to improving the quality of manuscripts.
- Reviewers should complete their evaluations within the agreed timeframe.
- Reviewers must maintain confidentiality regarding all aspects of the review process and must not use any information for personal gain.
Responsibilities of Authors
- Authors must present their work clearly, systematically, and accurately, ensuring that it is free from plagiarism and data manipulation.
- Authors are responsible for the content and implications of their work.
- Submitted manuscripts must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration elsewhere.
- Authors must properly acknowledge and cite the work and ideas of others.
- Authors must adhere to ethical standards in research and writing, demonstrating honesty and integrity.
- Authors must not submit the same manuscript to more than one journal simultaneously.
- If significant errors are discovered in a published work, authors must promptly notify the editor and cooperate in correcting or retracting the article.
Responsibilities of the Publisher
- al-Mawarid: Jurnal Syariah dan Hukum, published by the Department of Ahwal Syakhshiyah, Universitas Islam Indonesia, is responsible for publishing articles that have undergone proper editorial, peer-review, and production processes in accordance with academic standards.
- The publisher ensures academic freedom for editors and reviewers in carrying out their duties within their respective fields.
- The publisher is committed to maintaining confidentiality, protecting intellectual property rights, and upholding editorial independence.
Research Misconduct Policy
- Definition of Research Misconduct. Research misconduct includes, but is not limited to, plagiarism, citation manipulation, data fabrication or falsification, undisclosed conflicts of interest, and violations of accepted ethical research standards.
- Identification and Prevention. The journal takes proactive measures to identify and prevent research misconduct, including similarity checks, editorial screening, and ethical evaluation. Under no circumstances will the journal or its editors encourage, facilitate, or knowingly permit misconduct.
Handling Allegations of Misconduct. Allegations of research misconduct, whether raised before or after publication, will be investigated in a fair, objective, confidential, and timely manner. Depending on the severity of the case, appropriate actions may include manuscript rejection, publication of corrections, retractions, expressions of concern, or notification of relevant institutions.
