With great pleasure and gratitude, the Editorial Board presents Volume 2, Number 1 (2026) of the International Journal of Halal Industry (IJHI). As a scholarly platform dedicated to advancing the global discussion on the halal industry, this issue features seven selected research articles highlighting critical dimensions of the halal ecosystem. The contributions in this issue span across strategic management, Muslim-friendly tourism innovation, consumer behavior, Islamic finance, regional economic resilience, and digital transformation in preserving halal integrity.
The opening article of this issue focuses on the strategic realignment of Indonesia's halal industry. By integrating conventional SWOT analysis with the principles of Maqasid al-Shariah, this study successfully formulates a comprehensive framework that balances commercial competitiveness with public welfare, both spiritually and materially. This macro perspective is further reinforced by the fifth article, which outlines a holistic roadmap for the national halal industry, identifying massive market opportunities, structural challenges, and the strategic directions needed to solidify Indonesia's position as a global halal hub.
The Muslim-friendly tourism sector and consumer behavior also receive significant attention. The second article explores how value creation through service innovation in Lombok enhances inclusive travel experiences while preserving local values. Meanwhile, the aesthetic preferences and religiosity of Muslim consumers in the fashion industry are examined in the third article, illustrating how religious commitment influences store patronage intentions and loyalty toward modern fashion outlets.
This issue further enriches the financial literature through a systematic review in the fourth article, which maps the strategic intersection between Islamic financial instruments and investments in the halal industry to drive sustainable growth. From a macroeconomic standpoint, the sixth article presents a forecasting model on the economic impact of halal tourism on regional resilience, providing data-driven perspectives for local policymakers.
As a forward-looking conclusion, the seventh article leads readers into the discourse of governing halal integrity in the era of digital disruption. This research outlines socio-technical pathways toward digital transformation and innovation, emphasizing the critical importance of adopting advanced technologies to ensure product traceability and transparency from farm to fork.
We would like to express our deepest gratitude and appreciation to all the authors for their valuable research insights, as well as to our peer reviewers for ensuring the academic quality of this publication. We sincerely hope that the articles in this issue offer fresh perspectives, broaden academic horizons, and serve as strategic references for practitioners and policymakers in strengthening the global halal industry ecosystem.
